How I fell in love with Somatika

I've studied so many ways of moving and healing over the years. Bodywork, craniosacral therapy, breathwork, yoga, Pilates, fascial release. I thought I knew what I loved. And then my friend Ariana invited me to her class.

Ariana created Somatika, and the first time I took it, I fell completely in love. It blends some of my very favorite things, Pilates, yoga and breath, into one practice. I walked out of that class feeling like every part of me had shown up at the same time.

Why it felt like home

Pilates has always given me strength and control. Yoga has always given me space and flow. Breathwork has always been the thing that brings me back to myself when life gets loud. In Somatika I didn't have to choose. The strength, the flow and the breath were all moving together, and my body knew exactly what to do with that.

That's the feeling I want for you. Not another workout to get through, but a practice that feels like coming home to your body.

Why I trained to teach it

I loved it so much that I trained to teach it. Now Somatika is one of the practices I reach for most, for myself and for the women I work with.

I bring my own lens into it, from all my years of hands-on bodywork. I'm always listening to how a body is holding things, where it's guarding, where the breath isn't reaching yet. Somatika gives that listening a way to move.

What I want you to take from it

I want you to feel strong. I want you to feel present. I want you to finish a session feeling more alive than when you started.

I'm so grateful to Ariana for creating something this beautiful, and I'm honored to share it with you. You can find her at @somatikamethod.

I'll hold the space. You just show up.

If you have a recent injury, a surgery, or a medical condition, please check in with your doctor before you begin. Your body's needs come first, always.
